What is Holi
Holi is a ancient Hindu festival in India and Nepal festival. It starts in spring and ends in winter. Its some times call festival of colour.
Traditions
They throw coloured power (gulal) and use water guns at friends and family. the colours and really vibrant and bright. (not like I’ve been there).
Food
The food is for symbolizing joy and togetherness. They have Gujiya is a fried dumplings, Dahivada are fried lentil dumplings and Papori are crispy dough waters.
How is Holi relevant today
Holi is a fight over good and evil. The festival happens ever year. It is a symbol of friendship.
Conclusion
The festival is a important spring festival that bring friends and family happiness and peace.
For the last 2 weeks we have been making a Siapo its a type of Samoan tapa cloth.
My pattern was four pointy arrow going to the top right, top left, bottom right and bottom left. then I drew round but not that round pointy arrows but half way to the side.
Chinese New Year is a special celebration in China and around the world with families celebrating the new year with food and red envelopes with money in for presents..
The festival is 15 days long and starts with cleaning luck to get rid of evil spirits. They decorate their houses in red and dress up in red for good luck.
The traditions are that kids’ elders post them red envelopes with lots of yuan (money). They eat meals with their families and they eat vegetarian meals to give their stomachs a rest.
They light lanterns to help the spirits find their way and have lion dances to scare the spirits away.
